Da en.mvd.ru | Today, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia Igor Zubov held a working meeting with the delegation of the Government Conference of the Military, Civil Defence and Fire Brigade of the Swiss Confederation who wished to learn about the structure, key functions and tasks of the Russian MIA. Chief of the International Law Administration of the Treaty and Law Department of the Russian MIA Vitaly Yakovlev and Chief of the 3rd Division of the National Central Bureau of Interpol of the Russian MIA Ilya Sevostyanov also took part in the event on the Russian part.
The Swiss delegation was led by President of the Government Conference Norman Gobbi.
Igor Zubov told the foreign partners about the specifics of the structure and the organization of the service of the Russian police agency.
In particular, he noted that the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs was currently the largest and multifunctional part in the country’s law enforcement system. The main criterion for assessing its work is public opinion which is stipulated in the legislation.
“In recent years, we have managed to significantly increase the level of people’s trust. However, this effect cannot be permanent as it depends on multiple factors,” added the Deputy Minister.
He also spoke about issues related to the migration policy both in Russia and in EU countries, having noted that many challenges in that area were common and should be tackled in collaboration.
“We place a great emphasis on international cooperation, including with the Swiss Confederation,” noted Igor Zubov.
The participants in the meeting spoke about positive examples of the cooperation of the National Central Bureau of Interpol and the Investigation Department of the Russian MIA with the law enforcement bodies of Switzerland, especially in the area of search and identification of persons, as well as fight against crime perpetrated using computer technologies.
The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation expressed his hope that negotiations, international events and conferences, including those focusing on fight against crime would help to establish and enhance the collaboration between the two countries in future.

The Government Conference of the Military, Civil Defence and Fire Brigade of the Swiss Confederation is the second most important structure within the state security system of Switzerland uniting members of governments responsible for defense, protection of civilians, and fire safety of the Cantons of Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein.
